POEMS
I began with a sign
“Do you want a few minutes of company on your walk?”
Held it on the street, next to the bus stop, the pizza place near my home.
I made containers out of water bottles,
just in case
we were to stumble across an oddly shaped pebble on the ground.
I’d want you to keep it.

Laurie was the only person I talked to. She didn't want company
on her walk. We talked for 10 minutes anyways. She thinks
empathy is important too.
I grabbed coffee at Centred after I met Laurie
I've been going there a lot
I talked about what I was doing
Why I intended to converse
There was energy in the coffee shop
A mutual understanding of sorts

The next day I had a pitcher
Filled with free drip
And I had a new sign
And I got new ignored
ALOT

BUT
I gave genuine good morning's, smiles, and waves
I made an offer

So then I met Joyce
I got to sit down with Mike
And there was energy at our table

Now I wonder how Joyce's cat is doing
And when she's going to dye her hair next
