As I walk
I enjoy my body, the tension
The way it hits the roots in the center of my leg
The pain is solid
It’s black, an aluminum pole
Shaded and bent
Traveling into my thighs side and down
Into my feet and into the ground

I can see propositions
And suggestions of moments
Maybe spaces that hold me here
Graciously keep my body on this carpet
Yet afloat like a sail

There was fear there too
In that sunken moment
Not a deathly one or a painful clenching fist, more I promised
Something arose
Disallowing me to step inside this new zone
It was a fear of running into you
Although my body knew how close You stand there as a barrier
A mirror of myself
A distrusting mechanism
That does not take shapes bound with screws or bolts

This fear looks like walking with eyes half closed
Shifting into time half broke
Maybe I just need to see the things that close
Reopen the building torn
And lift the brake down south, kiss the channeled spout
Scouting for new answers
Shattered organisms
Blue bellied lizards
And a day so hot, the tar melted off
Becoming a time limit
A stressed foot
A displaced hoof

Who are you to tell me what I don’t know?
What I can’t see?
Let’s try again in this unwavering sea
Be a bee
Be a snake on a tree
